Morton Fine Furniture is
dedicated
to building fine, heirloom-quality furniture that can be handed down through
generations. Our designs reflect a simplicity and timelessness in form that are neither trendy nor cluttered with
ornamentation, but rather emphasize the natural beauty of
the solid cherry and other hardwoods used in their construction. Our
furniture is heavily influenced by the Pennsylvania German furniture makers who
originally settled in Lancaster County, PA. Their craftsmanship, attention
to detail, and work ethic are
reflected in every piece delivered to our customers. Additional design
influences come from the American
Shaker Period and the early 20th century Arts and Crafts movement. Carefully milled
solid woods
are reborn in the hands of our furniture makers. Natural oils are
hand-rubbed into the wood's distinctive natural color and grain and a fine
wax coating is then applied for protection. Today, our quilt chests,
chests of drawers, beds, dining tables and chairs, corner cupboards, and sideboards
emulate
the quiet elegance and craft of master German woodworkers, not as reproductions,
but as inspirations. We offer you true value through our commitment to the art of fine
furniture making.
"When I was a boy, my father and I would travel to the public auctions of Lancaster County. From the attics and barns of the countryside were revealed to me, treasures of simplicity, quality, and pride." – Thomas Morton
